Campervan Hire Halifax, Yorkshire: Local and Surrounding Area
We are located just five miles from both Halifax and Huddersfield. Halifax is home to the recently refurbished Grade I listed Piece Hall, the last remaining cloth hall in Britain. The Piece Hall has a range of shops, bars and cafes, and hosts events throughout the year. Close by is the market town of Hebden Bridge, surrounded by beautiful countryside and renowned for its creative culture and wide range of independent shops, restaurants and bars. Haworth, also home to many independent businesses and the birthplace of the famous Bronte sisters, is just 16 miles away on the edge of the Pennine moors.
The cities of Leeds, Manchester, York and Sheffield are within an hour’s drive. Slightly further afield are the Yorkshire Coast and the North Yorkshire Moors, all of which are within easy driving distance and have stunning scenery and a wealth of attractions.
Calderdale and Kirklees Film Locations
Several towns and villages in Halifax have been heavily featured in recent years in the Sally Wainwright shows Gentleman Jack, Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax. Shibden Hall & Park is the main focus of Gentleman Jack which tells the extraordinary story of Anne Lister. Various locations in Sowerby Bridge (including the police station and railway station) are the backdrop to Happy Valley and many of the scenes filmed for Last Tango in Halifax are in the towns and villages of the Calder Valley.
Channel 4’s series Ackley Bridge is also based in Halifax, with the town centre and Halifax Borough Market regularly popping up. Marsden Moor (just a few miles from us) is the home of the “Local Shop” in League of Gentlemen and Holmfirth is famous for Last of the Summer Wine.
